After the last ride of torture, I knew that I wouldn't be able to ride for several days, so I
took the road bike in to the shop, for some much needed love and attention. It has new cables and
housings, a new chain, and all the bearings in the hubs, bottom bracket, and headset, were
inspected and cleaned. She rides like new. Check out the 43 mph, on it's first ride back. Sweet!
These two rides were almost duplicates of each other. Both of them consisted of climbing up to the
La Luz trailhead, three times. I timed of couple of the climbs, but there was nothing there that
was record breaking. I did get my heart rate up into the 150s for quite a while. That felt good.
What didn't feel so good was the temporary return of chilly weather. The first ride only made it up into
the upper 40s, and the second one was in the low 50s. I had to put the lightweight tights, and the
full fingered gloves back on, to keep my legs and hands warm. I hope that doesn't last too much longer.
At least my butt wasn't hurting. It needed every minute of the five days that it was off of the bike,
to repair the damage from the last ride. Maybe it will gain some calluses. I used to be a hard ass.
