The Thursday night group ride started at the Indian School Trailhead of the Foothills Trails. I got there a few minutes early, and it was cloudy, and raining very lightly. After a few minutes of discussing whether it would get worse, we decided that it wouldn't, and we headed out on the trails. There were only a few people that showed up, two gals, and four guys. One of the gals, Helene, had a new bike that she was trying out. She was having some difficulties with it, so the two gals split off from the guys, and we continued cruising the trails. It's amazing what a maze of trails is out there.

After about a half an hour of riding around, we came across the ladies, and they joined up with the guys again. Helene was still complaining about her bike not handling very well, and it looked like her saddle was positioned too far back. We came back around to the parking lot, and I told her that I had a mini-tool, and offered to adjust the seat for her. That made all the difference in the world, and soon she was extolling the pleasures of her new bike. It's nic to be able to help out once in a while.

We made a loop down to Menaul and back, and the everyone headed for their cars. I wanted to do a little bit more riding, so I made a loop around the water tank, and then headed back myself, as it appeared that it was about to start raining a little bit harder.

As I was loading the bike in the Jeep to head for home, I noticed a little sack with a couple of sunglass lenses, laying in the parking lot. An email to Becky later determined that they were Helene's, so a couple of phone calls got them returned to their rightful owner. Helene, you owe me.

The day was cloudy and rainy, and cool, with temps only in the 70s. This is the coldest July I've experienced since arriving in Albuquerque. I'm not complaining.
