I played three games of softball this morning in a tournament, and then I met Anthony at the Smith's on Central and Tramway, and we drove over to the Sandia Peak Ski Area, to make the climb up the King of the Mountain trail. Anthony had never done it before, so it was a nice treat for him. We were a little concerned that it might start raining, but the weather was perfect.

We made the climb up the mountain, stopping a couple of times to catch our breath. We passed a guy on the way up who told us that the mountain was closing at 4 o'clock, and we were going to be on our own if we needed help. Not a problem.

We topped out at the Tram after an hour and a half of climbing, and then spent a few minutes enjoying the view. There was a young couple up there who had just moved here from central Illinois, and they were asking us about the trail. My advice to them was to make sure that they were acclimated to the elevation before they attempted to make the climb.

We headed down on the Golden Eagle trail, and it didn't take long for Anthony to disappear out of sight. About halfway down I heard a noise in the bushes, and there was a large deer there, who didn't seem to be very concerned that I was invading his territory.

Anthony was waiting near the parking lot, and we got in the car and headed back to town. My legs were singing the blues, after playing baseball, and then going for a bike ride. The will need a couple of days of rest to recover from this.
