It's only been a week since my last ride. That's a big improvement from the previous ride. I left the house at 8:15 in the morning, and rode down the Tramway Trail to Smith's at Central, and met up with Anthony. We drove to the Chamisoso trailhead, and started our ride from there.

Our plan was to make our way south to Juan Tomas Rd., and then head up to Oak Flat, with the eventual goal of picking up the mail, and heading down from Mars Court, if we had the time. We started out on some singletrack that was posted as Mighty Mule, on a couple of different signs. We also went up Rattlesnake (mostly walked), and then came out on a doubletrack trail. I think it was somewhere along the doubletrack that I clipped a tree and came to an abrupt halt as the left bar-end got stuck on a branch. I hit it hard enough that the bar-end moved on the handlebar, and it was uneven with the right one, for the rest of the ride. The doubletrack wound around and then climbed up (more walking) to what seemed like a dead end. We hunted around for a way out of there, and just as we were about to give up and head back the way we came, Anthony spotted a way out. The trail was faint, but it led us to Juan Tomas at the Poker Flat trail. From there we got on Mahogany trail, and rode up to Oak Flat.

After stopping briefly at the mailbox, we decided that we would have to leave the Mars Court portion of our ride for another day, and headed back to Chamisoso down the highway. There was a pretty strong headwind on the way down, which slowed us quite a bit. It slowed me down quite a bit. Anthony went pretty fast. At least it was downhill.

It was a beautiful day, with temps in the 60s and 70s. It was nice to be out in the forest.

Thanks for the ride Anthony!
