No, the Streak isn't broken, only my spirit. I've been concentrating on my schoolwork so much that I haven't taken the time to update the site. I think that I am begining to turn the corner on my studies so things should start getting better.

Streak Ride #50 is now in the books, and it was a super ride on a super day -- Super Bowl Day!

I left the house at 7:00 a.m. and headed out for the crest. My plan was to make the ride and get back to the house before the opening kickoff. Gametime was 4:20 p.m. so I knew what my target was. I hadn't been doing any riding since the last Streak Ride, but I did do a little bit of spinning in the front hallway a few times. That helped a lot.

It was pretty cold out when I started, but I was dressed for it. I took the road bike because there hasn't been any rain or snow in the last few weeks, and I knew that the roads would be free of ice, and amenable to the skinny tires. I rode through Tijeras Canyon in the shade because the sun wasn't high enough yet, but I was in full sun and bright blue skies by the time I got to North 14. I took it easy on the climb up to the crest, and enjoyed the day and the tunes on my mp3 player. This is the view that I was rewarded with when I finally got there. I didn't stay very long at the top because it was 20 degrees. I bundled up and headed for the bottom.

I took a break at the gas station long enough to scarf down a Gatorade and PowerBar and then I headed for home. The sky clouded up for the ride back, but at least it got warmer. Temps were probably close to 60 when I made finally it back to the house. It was 3:45 p.m. when I arrived back at the house, just enough time to take a shower and kick back for the game. It was a great game. Arizona should have had one more play.
