I was at home thinking that I would go to the gym and ride the stationary bike when I decided that it was such a beautiful day that I really should be riding outside. I grabbed my long neglected mountain bike, aired up the tires, oiled the chain, and headed out for the Foothil Trails.

I went in at Bighorn and stayed on the lower singletrack trails, and rode all the way to Embudito. From there I dropped down to Tramway and then rode all the way back up to the upper trails. It felt really good to be out on the dirt again. The full-suspension mountain bike is much more comfotable to ride than my road bike. I need to do this more often.

It seems like this is a boom year for lizards. I have never seen so many of the little critters on any other ride that I have taken. The roadrunners ought to be eating very well this summer. I also saw what looked like a gopher. It was either a gopher or a big rat. Whichever it was, it was ugly.

The wind started to pick up a little bit towards the end of the ride, but that didn't stop it from being a beautiful day. It was sunny and warm with temps in the 80s.
