It was Balloon Fiesta week and the ski area was open to operate the chairlift for all of the tourists that are in town, and also for any mountain bikers that might want to go for a ride. At the end of each day I got to sweep one of the trails down the mountain. I did five sweeps down the King of the Mountain trail and two sweeps down Golden Eagle. Every ride was very beautiful and it was a great way to the end the season.
Most of the rides tended to be on the cool side with temps from the low 60s to the low 40s. One ride it sprinkled on me just a tiny bit, and it felt nice. I saw some deer and some turkeys on the rides, but not much else.
I'm not sure what happened on my Monday ride, but on Tuesday morning my rear brake rotor was bent. I did go over the bars at one point on the ride but nothing seemed amiss at that time. I also could have bent it on some rocks or trees. It was messed up on Tuesday and I had to try and bend it as best I could so that it wouldn't rub much in the caliper. On Wednesday I had to get a new rotor.
I have really enjoyed working at the mountain this summer. It's a bonus that I get to ride my mountain bike down at the end of the day and I get paid to do it. This week was more the six hours of riding while still on the clock. What a life....
