I took my time getting started on this ride because the weather forecast said that there was very little chance of rain. I didn't leave the house until around 8:30 a.m. which is a bit later than I would normally get started. The later start also helped the morning air get a little bit warmer than it otherwise would have been.

I cruised down 337 and then rode through Cedar Crest and when I came to my break spot at the Y I decided to just keep on going. That never happens, but I didn't need to stop and pee and I wasn't hungry for a PowerBar so I just kept on pedalling. About three miles up the road my mp3 player gave out but I had thought ahead and brought along my emergency battery charger. I stopped and plugged it in and I had music again. I continued riding up to Capulin and took my break there like I usually do. I was feeling a little weak by that point and the rest did me good.

After a few minutes I got back on the bike and finished the ride up to the crest. On the way to the top I passed the 10,000 mile mark on my road bike. I took a picture of my speedometer when it read 9999.9 with my cell phone, but I don't know how to get the picture from my phone to my laptop. If I ever figure it out I'll come back later and add it to this page.

Upon arriving at the top I stopped to sit on the stone wall to rest for a few minutes. A Ranger came over and asked me if I was all right. I told him I was and that I do this every month. He said that he has seen me up there before. We talked a little bit about how hard it can be to get up there in the winter. I told him that I try not to come on those days.

After a few minutes I hopped back on my bike and coasted down to the gas station. I filled up on water and ate a candy bar and then headed for home. It had warmed up into the mid 80s but it felt nice. It was only 59 degrees at the top which made the beginning of my ride down feel cool. There was a decent breeze as I made my way back through Cedar Crest and I was feeling good when I got back to 337 for the ride back up the hill. I hammered that climb pretty well and I was a happy guy when I made it back to the house.

Streak Ride #105 was done and I never did need my windbreaker.
