It's been raining off and on for the last few weeks and it's been too muddy in the forest to go out there and do any riding. So, once again I am out of shape and I'm content with just taking my time and enjoying this ride.
I left the house before 8:00 a.m. and headed out of the neighborhood on Peacock instead of Skyland, and wouldn't you know it, there was a pit bull loose to harass me. Luckily, he wasn't a very aggressive dog and a couple of "NOs!" got him to back off. I got onto 337 and enjoyed the cool ride down. Temps were probably in the mid 40s. It was considerably warmer when I got down to a lower elevation and I enjoyed the ride through Cedar Crest to my break spot at the Y.
I rested up for a few minutes and then started up the long climb. About three miles up the road my mp3 player quit working. I thought that maybe it might just need a charge but my extra battery pack couldn't get the thing to start working again. Oh, well. I rode the rest of the ride enjoying the sounds of nature and traffic. I took another break at Capulin and then climbed the rest of the way to the crest. I went inside and warmed up for a few minutes and then tucked myself in for the ride down. It was 49 degrees at the top. Not bad.
The ride down started out chilly but warmed up quickly as I descended. It started out cloudy but the clouds dissipated as I got lower and lower. I stopped at the gas station at the bottom for a candy bar and more water and then I headed for home. The ride back to the house was uneventful, and it's nice having another Streak Ride behind me.
