I waited for the afternoon to warm temperatures up a little bit, and then I headed out for a training ride. It was in the upper 40s when I left the house and it was in the 50s when I got down to lower elevations. It was warm enough that the snow we received last week is melting fast, and the road between my house and the pavement had quite a bit of mud. I managed to slowly ride my way down it without making too much of a mess of the bike.
Once I reached the asphault I hopped on the bike and headed for the freeway at the bottom of 337. I took a break at the bottom at the Subway and then I readied myself for the climb back up the hill.
I was feeling strong for the ride back up and I tried to push bigger gears and run higher cadences than I usually do. My effort didn't really translate into any greater speed, but it felt good. All I can do is keep doing what I have been doing. I've only got a few more training rides before the race so I'll have to make the most of them. I've been doing some riding on the indoor trainer, and that has been helping.
To finish off the ride in style, I actually got out of the saddle in the middle chain ring and climbed the steep hill on Raven Road. That felt good.
