I left the house around 8:00 a.m and the temps were already in the low 60s. By the time I rode past Davis Hardware in Cedar Crest it was 77 degrees. I took a short break at the Y and then took a PowerBar break at Capulin. I took another short break at the 10K trailhead before finally making it up to the crest.

The temperature at the top was 63 degrees. Not bad. While I was putting on my windbreaker for the ride down a Ranger came over and asked me how I was doing. I said, "Fine. I do this once a month." Then he said that he remembered talking to me last year when I was on ride 104 or so. After couple of minutes I headed down the mountain.

Temps warmed up quickly and I had to stop at the ski area to take off my jacket. That was just fine with me. I went in the gas station at the bottom to fill up on water and headed out without getting a candy bar. I rode back through Cedar Crest, fighting a bit of a headwind. The headwind continued on the climb up 337 until about Otero Canyon, and then it switched over to a tailwind. That made the last 5 miles or so up the hill a little bit easier.

By the time I rolled back into the house the temps were in the 90s and I was feeling the heat. I had gone through almost 200 ounces of water.
