I went out to Mars Court for a solo ride. No dogs, no people.
I went down Wild Turkey to Cajun Turkey and then Cajun Pine to Three Bottles. It's a lot easier to go down Three Bottles than it is to ride up it. I came out on Road 106 and took it to Blue Ribbon. I took Blue Ribbon all the way down to Otero Canyon. On the way down I passed a guy who was heading up the trail. He was the only person I saw out there the whole time I was riding. It was a hot day, in the mid 90s, and as usual, the bike riders are all looking for some shade when it gets that hot.
I rode up Otero Canyon and then to Gnasty w/ag, back up to Blue Ribbon. It took me a while to figure out what the "w/ag" meant, and then it came to me. The trail is called, "Nasty, with a G."
I took Blue Ribbon back up to 106 and took it to David Canyon Road. Parts of 106 are remnants of the old road before the fire break was created a few years ago to stop the fire on the air force base. The road isn't being ridden very much and it is starting to be reclaimed by Mother Nature.
The hub in my rear wheel was acting up on my last ride so I did some service to it before this ride. I had watched the bike shop guy work on my Mavic hubs a couple of times and after pulling up a google search on "Mavic rear hub service," I decided to give it a try. It seems to have worked because I didn't have any issues with bad noises coming from my hub.
