Location = Mars Court Distance = 6 Miles Time = Ave. Speed = Max. Speed = Monthly Dist. = 6.0 Yearly Dist. = 1038.32
After many weeks of neglect, Sofie and I finally hit the trails again. We drove over to Mars Court and did the Turkey Trot, David Canyon loop in order to check out the recent controlled burn that the Forest Service had out there. Here are a couple pictures that I took along David Canyon Road.
The burning started near the trailhead and fills that quadrant immediately to the south and down to David Canyon Road. In my opinion, I don't think that they burned enough to the south. I feel that if your going to apply all of these resources into reducing the fuel load then you might as well go out and burn everything. I know that more burning is scheduled so we'll have to see how it goes.
Sofie and I took several breaks but she only drank water on the first one. I think that she is in better shape than I am. I have been slacking off and I am going to suffer when I try to ride up to the crest.
On the way back to the road up to the parking area we heard a very loud, squeaking, rattling, kind of machine. We chased it down and I filmed about three seconds of it as it motored up the road. Listen to the noise that it makes. After that, we headed for the car.
I forgot my speedometer so that's why all I have is the extimate of six miles. It was a short ride but very enjoyable. It was a partly cloudy day with temps in the 50s.
