I headed out at 8:00 a.m. and started down 337. Temps were in the mid 40s and I stopped to put on my full-fingered gloves instead of the half-fingered ones that I started out with. The morning warmed up quickly and I took the gloves of when I got to Cedar Crest. I took my usual break at the Y and then headed up the mountain.
I am still concerned about my failed ride that happened in September so my goal for this ride was to take it easy and try to survive. I used a small gear and kept it spinning until I got to where I was going. Eventually, I always manage to get there.
Just before Capulin I had a slight twinge of a cramp and I felt a little bit of nausea. I stopped for a couple minutes and drank some water and that seemed to settle me down. I took my break at Capulin and then I was headed for the top. I took a cookie break at the top and then I tucked in and zipped up and headed for the bottom. On the way down I passed by five turkeys that were in the road. I wonder if they were the same ones that I saw last month?
I filled up on water at the Shell station and then I headed for home. It was a beautiful day with temps in the 70s. I couldn't have picked a better October day to do this ride. Excellent!
