Sofie and I needed to get out for a bike ride, and even though it was hot out, about 90 degrees, and the forest trails south of I40 were all closed because of the fire, we went anyway.
The app on my phone that tracks my ride quit working about halfway through, so I went with an estimate for the distance.
We rode over to Mars Court and the trailhead which was blocked with this barricade. This is where I exercise my right to remain silent.
Due to the heat of the day, Sofie and I took four water breaks so that the dog could rest. It's been awhile since our last ride and I think that both of us were a bit out of shape.
On the way back home Sofie sprinted past the house with the big dogs in the yard. She likes to antagonize those dogs sometimes. After that sprint she was limping a little bit and later on I found a small cut on one of the pads of her right, front foot. After a couple hours of licking and a couple days of rest, she was fine.
It felt good to be back on the bike. Hopefully, the trails in the forest will be open soon.
