Today was a much better day than yesterday, for making an attempt to climb to the crest. It was blue skies, and bright sunshine. I headed out at 8:30am, and it was a bit chilly because daylight savings time kicked in, so it was 7:30am on yesterday's time.

I cruised in to my break spot at the bottom of the mountain, with a slightly slower time than yesterday. I would usually stop for a break, but this time I decided to continue with the ride, without stopping. The only stops I made were to answer nature's call. One of the stops was near the ski area, where the wind changed from being moderate, to being strong. I replaced my half fingered gloves, for warmer, full fingered ones. I struggled with the climb, as usual, especially when I was being blasted by the wind. A couple of times I was nearly blown off of the road. Eventually, I made it to the top, and I went inside to warm up.

The fireplace in the snack bar was going, and I claimed the table right next to it, in an attempt to warm myself. There were a bunch of people up there, paying a lot of attention to the finches outside. They had cages set up with seeds in them, and when a finch would get inside, they would close the door by remote control, and then catch the bird to record some information. They'd bring the bird inside and measure it, stuff it in a tube, write stuff down, then let it go, and catch another one. I watched them for a while, as I warmed myself up.

I headed down the mountain as fast as I could, so I could get back into warmer temperatures. I stopped to take off my warm gloves, and headband, and then continued on toward home. Temps varied from the 30s to the 60s. I saw a small lizard on Tramway, on the way back. Spring is well on it's way at lower elevations, but it hasn't started up high, yet.
