Streak Ride #26 is a success. What a difference a week makes. The snow on the side of the roads was all melted, so I had much more room to stay away from traffic, than I did last week.

I left the house at 8:00 in the morning, and the temps were fairly mild, in the 20s. I made my way down the mountain, through Cedar Crest, and up to the Sandia Crest, without having to make too great of an effort. As I pulled in to the parking lot, at the top of the crest, the battery in my mp3 player died. It was perfect timing.

I went inside to warm up, but I didn't stay very long, because the temperature at the top was 30 degrees, which felt balmy, compared to my last couple of rides up there. I put a new battery in the mp3 player, and then proceeded to go down the mountain, forgetting to turn the thing on. I didn't really miss much, because when I'm going downhill fast, I can't hear it very well, anyway.

At the bottom, I stopped in the gas station for a gatorade, and then headed for home. There was a welcome party waiting for me up at the house, which was nice. My dog K.D. was visiting, and she is always happy to see me, if no one else is.

The climb back up S337 wasn't nearly as difficult as last week, and my time showed a 45 minute improvement. Much Better.
