Finally,I'm back in the dirt. It's been sunny, warm, and beautiful, for weeks, so I decided to head out into the national forest, and see how the trails are. Almost all of the snow has melted up here, so I was hoping that the riding would be dry. Most of my hopes were realized, however, there are still a lot of piles of snow in the shaded areas, and where they are melting, it's muddy. My bike was thoroughly trashed, but it was worth it, just to get out. I wouldn't have taken a new bike out there, but the Santa Cruz Superlight, was up to the task. I'll have to show it some love this weekend, and clean it up.

I rode over to Mars Court, and then to the left, on trail 162. That trail was in great shape most of the way, but as I neared David Canyon, I came across my first patches of mud. I took the forest road toward the Isleta Indian Reservation, but when I came across a large snow patch that I knew I couldn't ride through, I turned around and headed back. I rode passed the forest road that goes back to Mars Court, but not very much passed it, because once again, patches of snow discouraged my travel. It needs a couple more weeks of this wonderful weather, and conditions should be excellent.

Temps were around 70 degrees, and the sun was it's usual glorious self. I'm hoping that this is going to be the start of a very good year.
