Streak Ride #28 finally happened. The last few weekends have had threatening weather, which made me wake up, look out the window, and postpone the attempt until the next weekend. There is always the chance that the next weekend will be even worse than the one that is being postponed, but everything worked out the way it was supposed to, this time around.

The weather started out looking great, and a little bit cool. I had my jacket on, my leg warmers, and spring gloves, when I left the house. I stopped down near the freeway, and took everything off, because it was quite warm. I thought that I might have to put my jacket back on as I neared the top of the crest, but it wasn't necessary, as the effort of the climb was more than enough to keep me warm. I took a picture of the Sandia Crest House sign.

It was only 42 degrees up there, so after I scarfed down two power bars, I put on my jacket and made the descent. There was at least a 30 degree temperature difference between the top and the bottom. It was a pleasure feeling the air warm, as I dropped in elevation. I stopped at the gas station for a gatorade, and to refill my water, and then headed back to the house.

About six miles from the house, my front tire went flat. I stopped at the side of the road, swapped out the tube, and pumped it up with enough air to make it back to the house. Mission accomplished.

Temps varied from the 40s, to the 70s. It was a most excellent ride.
